Areola change, burning sensation and lump, sca

Hi everyone, I'm 39 and a mother of 3. Over the last few months I noticed a tiny tiny lump which I just kept checking on and off. It hasn't grown hugely, but its shape changed from a pea shape to more a tick tack. Then I noticed my areola, its almost like its bled out of its barrier, its circular shape now looks like 2 over lapped circles. And now behind the nipple area is burning. Not the surface but inside the breast tissue it feels hot. I managed to get a face to face appointment booked in a few days rime for just a g.p examination. Now I know it could 100% be nothing. I am scared though. My mum had cervical and ovarian cancer and thankfully is 12 years in remission and doing great, her sister however got breast cancer twice, the 2nd ended her life. Cancer is huge in both sides of my family so I am a little scared. I don't know what I'm expecting from this thread. Wether its advice or similar stories and their outcomes. Either way I'm not comfortable discussing this with family as I don't want to potentially worry them if its nothing at the same time.

  • Hello Kitkat1982

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some concerns about your breast health at the moment. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

It's good to know that you already had a GP appointment arranged at the time you posted. Hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance but please don't panic if you're referred to your local breast clinic. It's important to get these things checked but it may help you to remember that the vast majority of people referred to breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer.

Hopefully you have some news soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
