Hi Laura,
I was diagnosed with tongue cancer last week. My symptoms started about 3 months ago when I thought a small piece of food had lodged in my throat. Over the next few weeks it never cleared and I started to get jaw ache and a scratchy throat as well. It was really the jaw ache that prompted me to go to the hospital.
If yours hasn't cleared up in a week or so it is definitely worth getting it checked out.
I am currently awaiting an MRI scan of my chest to make sure it hasn't spread and I have a biopsy scheduled for 21st March.
Needless to say I am devastated and feel like my world has ended
Please don't wait too long to get it checked out
Alan
Very sorry to hear this, how old are you if you don't mind me asking, did you have any ulcers on the tongue? Or any ear pain? My doctor has said if it doesn't get better in a week to go and see him. My doctor thinks it's anxiety or gurd, and my jaw pain is from grinding my teeth also due to anxiety, I'm praying it's nothing serious and wishing you all the best
Hi Laura,
I'm a 57 year old guy and I've been drinking way way too much over the last 2 years I have been working from home and fear that is what may have caused it.
I didn't get any ulcers on my tongue and the pain was one of those pains that could have been either ear or teeth but felt more like toothache.
I had 2 Laryngoscopies both of which showed only some white bumps at the back of my tongue which the specialist thought was a fungal infection....it was only on the 3rd Larygoscopy that the surgeon saw a small white mass which in his opinion is almost certainly cancer.
I've had so many sore throats, ear aches and toothache in my life that I was convincing myself it was another one of those....the lump in my throat (like a tablet had got stuck) was what really scared me and made me go go it seen to.
It sounds like you have it under control but just worrying about it all the time makes it feel worse.
If you are that worried I would go to A and E because my doctor told me to do that anyway cos he doesn't have the specialist equipment to check....it will certainly ease your mind and if you haven't had one before it's a doddle.
Keep me posted
Alan
