Confused

Hi I had a smear  in jan results come back hpv, high grade sever abnormal cells and also cancerous cells so had a biopsy, for results of that today to be told no cancer cells in biopsy but showing endimetriosis, so I asked how did the smear show cancerous cells but biopsy show endometriosis and my dr reply was "well I think it was endo cells picked up on the smear "

I don't understand how it could get mixed up with results like that? I am havign an mri on 17mar h and hysterectomy end March

has anybody else ever had anything like this?
thank you

  • Hi, not quite the same, but I've had 2 colposcopy appointments recently, the first one found minor cell changes and then I had an ultrasound which showed a mass in my cervix so was sent back to colposcopy and this time it was positive for cancer, so colposcopy is definitely not 100% accurate and things can be missed. My gynaecologist said there was no way it had developed in such a short time and must of been there at my first app. The good news is you're getting an MRI so if there is anything there it will pick it up.

I have my MRI on Friday and I'm bricking it. Never had one before so not sure what to expect. Not a fan of small spaces though so hoping it goes quick.
