Possible Ovarian Cancer

Hello Everyone.

dec21/jan22 I started experiencing pain in my left side, an occasional little stabbing that was really catching me. Over the space of 3/4 weeks this then moved to an almost permanent aching in my back as well as the awful stabbing pain I was experiencing. The pain reminded me of cysts on my ovaries which I have had 3 times previously by this stage so I went to the GP. She enquired then, after examination, about any bloating, my urination habits, my appetite etc which when she probed I realised had all been off for some while in one way or another but I felt nothing linked any of them and put most of them down to getting a bit older.
gP has requested the CA125 blood test (I believe it is called) and I have a renal and ultra sound scan booked for tomorrow.
can anyone talk me through the process, it's been a month since I went to the GP and had the referral for scans made. I have spent the last 2/3 weeks in denial about the entire thing and the last few days in tears at the prospect that this might not be nothing.

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear you have been having lots of pain. It is good that your GP is being really thorough and organising tests to investigate your symptoms. I have been going through something similar, though it seems to be taking a long time to get to an accurate diagnosis for me. Hopefully, things will move more quickly for you! Good luck with your ultrasound scans tomorrow and I hope you don't have to wait too long for the results.

Let us know how you get on (if you can) x

  • Thankyou Baz22

Sorry to hear that you have been waiting some time for diagnosis. Hopefully you can get some answers soon.
thankyou, yes super greatful that we have the NHS and to be in an area that has been able to see me within 4 weeks at this time.
