Referred to Myeloma clinic, does mean it's cancer?

My dad has been having tests as he had chronic back pain for a few months. GP referred him to haemotolgy to have blood, CT and MRI. He has now had an appointment through but this is under the Myeloma Clinic? Does this mean that he has cancer? He hasn't been given any results back apart from some bloods which GP said looked positive and no Bence Jones protein in urine. Stressing out because the appointment is still nearly 2 weeks away. It completely shocked and scared us that he has to go the myeloma clinic as stated on the letter.

  • Welcome to the forum Slouise22 although I'm sorry about the chronic back pain your dad has been contending with over the last few months.

Unfortunately I can't answer this question but our cancer nurses may be able to help so if you'd like to ask them about this they're just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and ease your worries.

Hopefully some of our members who have been through this process will share their thoughts and experiences with you soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you both and will have our fingers crossed all goes well at your dad's appointment in 2 weeks time.

    Kind regards,
