Worrying letter - asked to attend gynaecology on 6th March

Hi all

After visiting my doctor on 14th Feb with pain in my right side (I've had this for 18 years on and off) she booked me in for blood tests. She was doing a tumour marker and checking iron level etc. I haven't heard anything from GP but received a letter to attend a Gynaecologist appointment on the 6th. Is this normal or should my GP contacted me about blood results. I'm really worried. Had this happened to anyone else? TIA

  • Hello Huskymum22 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

Try not to read anything into the fact you received this letter asking you to attend a gynaecologist appointment as this may be separate from your blood test results. Perhaps you could try and get in touch with your GP surgery and ask whether they have received your blood test results and if they can give you an update or an estimate as to when you will receive these results?

I hope that you will hear from other members of our forum who have had this happen to them before too and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

Best of luck for your appointment on the 6th of March and I am keeping everything crossed for you for good results.

    Best wishes,

  • I received a gynaecology appointment following a colonoscopy, referred by colorectal as they found ovarian cysts that was for 2 weeks, GP knew nothing about this. She was surprised when l saw her and said l was having surgery. Try not to be too anxious as the gynaecology appointments seem to be the routine pathway at the moment. GPS are shopping everything on to the hospital ASAP instead of doing tests first. Probably because it's the one type of clinic they have access to ie the two week wait.
I hope everything goes well at your appointment
