Small pea sized lump in breast

Hi,

Im 24 years old and I have recently found a small pea sized lump in my left breast on the left side of my nipple. It's very hard and feels round but does not move at all and it doesn't hurt. I've been to the doctors and been referred to the breast clinic and currently awaiting a appointment. I'm just wondering if anyone else had this experience and what was the outcome. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

    Hi Chelsea,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear of the worry that your symptoms are causing you. Unfortunately, it is impossible to say what your outcome is likely to be, as all cancers are different and it is impossible to be sure whether or not cancer is present, without the results of a scan and/or biopsy. Many younger women have benign cysts, hormonal or fibrous changes. Only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a breast cancer diagnosis and, the younger you are, the less likely this is to happen.

You are doing the right thing by getting this checked out and I sincerely hope that all turns out well. Most of us are seen within 2 weeks from the date of referral, so you should get a date for your appointment soon. This is always an anxious time. Try to keep yourself as busy as you can - this will make the time pass a little quicker.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
