Painful Colonoscopy

I went for my first and last colonoscopy yesterday and it was horrendous, the whole experience except the nurse who prepped me and the guy who looked after me in the end was awful.  So much so I have written a letter to the hospital.  I have felt pain on many occasions, burst ectopic, burst appendix, and this was on a par with that! I was made to feel like a bother! It was terrible, I opted for sedation because of what I'd read, it was excruciating even with fentanyl and midazolam, I have not been thinking about anything else since then.  They only managed to get the scope to my splenic flexure.  I was bundled out of there like a whirlwind.  The nurses and doctor were uncaring and cold, though the doctor was marginally better than the nurses.  Now I'm booked for a CT instead.  If I ever needed a colonoscopy again the only way would be through GA. When I was actually dying through my massive internal bleeding during my ectopic I was in terrible pain and they didn't listen! Never again!

  • I think it's called Moviprep it came from the hospital pharmacy with instructions on when to take it and the restricted diet in the couple of days reducing down to fluids. The whole thing was much easier than the usual colonoscopy, my GP said that is the only  way they are done locally using CT

l hope you have a better experience next time
