Ovarian cancer worries - transvaginal scan next week, very worried

Hi. Just joined. I have had back ache on the left side mainly for months. Bloated tummy for some time now. I look about 6/7 months pregnant. Constant dull ache around my pelvic are. So tired all the time. I'm really fed up with it. I had a hysterectomy when I was in my 30s but I still have my overies. I'm also on HRT and I did go into early menopause. I have a transviginal scan next Friday. But I'm so worried. Then I have to wait for the results. Any help out there please.

  • I have had complex ovarian cysts l was referred to gynaecology oncology from colorectal following a colonoscopy. I was seen by gynaecology in two weeks, after repeated mri scans  and trans vaginal ultrasound to check if the cysts had enlarged after three months, l spoke to the surgeon and was listed for surgery 8 weeks later. My surgery was more extensive than expected due to multiple adhesions and the left overy being imbedded it took 4 1/2 hours ! It's taking a while to get over it all but I am relieved that my biopsies have came back benign. I had left sided pain, tiredness and was passing water frequently.. They told me at my ultrasound scan that the cysts were still the same size. I hope your scan gives good results.take care

  • Hi. Thank you for the reply. Did you pain come and go? I feel as if someone is pulling on my stomach. It's not so much a pain it's a dull ache that just makes me feel so tired. I called 111 last night but got no where. I do also suffer with IBS I don't want them saying it's that. Thank you

  • My pains were dismissed over the years as adhesions from previous surgery or IBS that's always a stock answer, the pain did come and go but was definitely left sided. I was really tired and had upset tummies that was the reason for the colonoscopy to exclude cancer. I didn't have a clue that it could be ovarian cysts l was surprised when they rang me a week after the scan, The cysts have to be at least 5 cm mine were solid/complex not fluid filled as they usually are. They are not usually active at my age I'm over 65 post menopause they usually shrivel down to nothing as you age and they are no longer active.

Hopefully your scan on Friday will be able to diagnose  what is happening for you to be treated. They told me that my cysts were still there and the same size as they had been 12 weeks before. They rescan to see if they have shrunk. I was surprised to get surgery during Covid the consultant was much more helpful than the clinic doctor had been. He said your not llkely to get surgery on cysts that size! And said They  need to be 10 cm + mine were 5 cm+. Take care and try to be busy this week.
