Swollen leg and lymph node

Hi my Dad is 71 and about 10 months ago he pulled his groin! Immediately after his leg swelled! After 2 months he saw his gp who sent him for an ultrasound! No tear noted but his lymph node in his groin was slightly swollen! Fast forward to now and his leg remains swollen! Just one leg! Pain in the groin has reduced but still there in some movements! He has anothe ultrasound this week and nothing has changed! GP checked under arms and neck and no other glands were swollen! No other symptoms other than the swollen leg! Any advice? Thanks x

  • Hello jennag11 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can understand this is rather puzzling especially as the ultrasounds haven't shown any change and there are no other symptoms other than the swollen leg. What did the doctor suggest?

I hope that you'll hear from others on the forum to whom this has happened before and that they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. If you feel you are not getting any definite answers, perhaps it might be worth seeking a second opinion. You can find out more about this on this page

I hope that the mystery is resolved soon and that you find out what has been causing this swollen leg. Fingers crossed too that your dad's leg gets back to normal soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you! Nothing really! Having bloods tomorrow and a CT scan soon but the GP doesn't seem too concerned! I wonder if he has damaged the lymph node when he did the original injury and that's causing the swelling!

  • Update CT scan has shown a handful of swollen lymph nodes in chest and the one in his groin! Blood work all normal! Suspected lymphoma!!!
