What's wrong with the NHS?! Won't tell nan if she has cancer

So my nan (88) had a bad fall a few months ago, xrays were done etc and she was discharged and told everything was fine apart from a broken nose and a few bruises.

About 2 months later Jan 4th she had an appointment at the chest clinic we thought nothing of it and thought it was a routine appointment, she went alone. My nan suffers with hearing loss but apparently the doctor told her they found two patches on her lungs and they suspect cancer and handed her a leaflet about cancer scares. They told her they will refer her urgently for more tests including a biopsy.

The following week she was referred to a hospital miles away for which we thought was for the biopsy, instead a CT scan was performed and a letter came through the post with an appointment for March for the biopsy. We also had to travel miles to the same hospital for an endocrine appointment where we met with an unpleasant nurse and she handed me a 24 hour urine collection bottle and advised me to stop two of my nans medications before starting the test (I didn't feel comfortable with that because I'm not a doctor and I had no idea what the medications was for) she also had a blood test probably the 5th one in a row in a matter of weeks! Got all the way home to receive a phonecall saying the blood had to be discarded because of a faulty pod?! Still have no idea what the endocrine appointment was for as nothing was explained to us.

She received a phonecall last week that the CT results are back and referred to a doctor my sister sat down with her in front of the doctor and he asked "why exactly are you here" my sister explained in which the doctor replied "it could be cancer it might not but I wouldn't advise her going for a biopsy, she is 88" my sister started crying and lost her temper and was telling him how stressed out my nan has been over the possibility of having cancer. He explained that the CT scan is done to guide the biopsy not necessarily to diagnose her and in the end told her not to attend her biopsy appointment.

So long story short my nan still doesn't know whether she has cancer or a simple infection (they haven't even offered a follow up appointment to investigate further even for an infection) the doctor has agreed to perform a 6 monthly scan to monitor it but that's only because I requested that but no other tests are being performed and has been sent home to hope for the best.

Has anyone else experienced this?
