Hi everyone
Im after some advice and reassurance of anyone in the know.
I found a small lump on my left thigh (on the top between knee and groin). It feels like it's in the fatty/muscle layer, you can see it, only feel it and is around 1.5 To 2 cm. My GP said hes not worried and said it's probably a lipoma or a cyst. Those two things sound quite different when you read up on them and my worry (plus reading stories about doctors that miss things) is causing doubts. It's also started to ache and be sore from time to time. Not painful, but more aware of it.
the hospital said it would be another 6 weeks for me to get a scan, as the GP didn't refer on a 2 week pathway. All in all it'll be around 8 to 10 weeks since finding the lump to getting an ultrasound.
I could dig into the little savings I have and have a private ultrasound, but if I then need to have further tests do I go back to the 'beginning of the queue' again in the NHS, as I can only afford one scan, not MRIs or biopsies. My rational mind says the chances of it being a cancer is really rare from what I understand and to wait, but it's also my health v money.
any thoughts would be really welcomed as this seems like a really supportive forum.
many thanks
Yen
