Ovarian cyst

Hi. I've recently been diagnosed with a 4cm ovarian cyst, possibly polyp and 21 mm uterus lining. I'm 45 premenopausal. My ultra sound in November said the cyst was 3.5 mm, then follow up ultra sound was 4cm end of January. Consultant thought the original 3.5mm was a typing error. Either way it's grown. He thinks it's an endometrioma and has advised to be removed. I'm also waiting a biopsy for the lining. This week I got the results of ca 125 test as abnormal showing 95.  I,m now getting more concerned. Should there now be other tests done, mri etc? I'm feeling more bloated a lately especially after food and I seem to have griping pains on and off . Basically my insides just don't feel right .

  • My  complex ovarian cysts were found during a colonoscopy, l was swiftly referred to gynaecology oncology as they were 5 cm and 4 cm. l am  post menopausal as over 60. The consultant recommended surgery and they were removed in October along with extensive multiple adhesions  that took 4 1/2 hours, they were following previous surgery hysterectomy and Caesarian section. and she expected some prep!

I hope you have your surgery soon and results are benign like mine. Take care and try to keep busy.

  • Thankyou for replying . I've no idea when my operation is. I was hoping if the ca 125 was abnormal it might be sooner rather than later.

  • I spoke to the surgeon late June and should have had my op in September but was cancelled on the day. It would have been about 9/10 weeks as it was during the Covid shut down of the hospitals l was pleased that l ended up on the oncology list, as l was told by the gynaecology registrar in February that they were not operating on ovarian cysts unless they were huge! So it would have been join the long queue.
l hope you have a date soon l spoke to the gynaecology secretary who helped to organise my admission and they could see 2here l was on the list.
    take care
