Possible Endometrial Polyp

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting and although I haven't been diagnosed with anything nasty I just wanted to hear from others. So some back story - I went to my GP with the following symptoms:

Change in my cycles - going months and months without one.

My periods have become extremely heavy and painful which is very unusual for me. I get really bad pelvic pain aswell as pain on the lower right of my back.

Unusual excessive discharge.

Spotting in between cycles.

I was sent for a scan external and internal and it stated it was a difficult scan and that a 10mm polyp surrounded by fluid - it had a ? after on my GP record was seen. My GP has referred me to a gynecologist team for this. I'm aware alot of polyps in the womb are benign but then I am also aware they can be cancerous. My GP also informed me the Gynecologist will preform a hysterscopy - this is why I said possible polyp as I know sometimes scans can get this wrong. If you could share your stories and journeys with me whilst I wait good and the bad it would help. Love to you all. Xx

  • Hello Dollface91,

    Welcome to our forum.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your gynaecology appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more. There is information on this page on the hysteroscopy which I hope you will find useful.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as there are so many different things that could explain your symptoms. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this while you are waiting for answers is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips on this page on how to cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Bless you, thanks so much for your reply Lucie! Much appreciated X

  • Hi there,

I have just been told I have a "possible" endometrial polyp after having similar symptoms to yours (spotting, unusual discharge, pelvic pain, longer cycles). I had a normal pelvic ultrasound 7 months ago, so didn't rush to get this checked. Going out of my mind with worry about cancer.

Just wanted to find out how things are going for you and what your diagnosis was?

Sending thanks for your post, and hope all is well.
