Catheter removed after prostate biopsy

Hope someone can help

I had a prostate biopsy in late January and unfortunately the next day I had difficulty peeing so had a catheter inserted, I had the catheter inserted for two weeks and was given medication to relax the muscles round my prostate to help me pass urine.

The catheter was taken out six days ago and for 48 hours I had no control over my bladder but now I find that I am not passing much pee I am going through the day. Do I need to drink more water, I am getting stomach cramps could this be related to catheter balloon that was in my stomach and cused irritation.

I hope it is not rention the thought of having a catheter reinserted would be soul destroying.

Will hopefully get my results soon.

  • Hello ZAZ62

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some ongoing problems with passing urine since having your catheter removed last week. Please do get in touch with your nurse specialist or GP if things are not improving. They will be best placed to offer you some advice and arrange to see you if they feel it's necessary.

It can take time, but I do hope that things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
