38mm gallbladder polyp

Had ultrasound and a 38mm 18mm by 37mm polyp has been found in my gallbladder. all info points to the bigger they are the more chance of being cancer. I only have a normal referral to the hospital what is the guild line to a polyp this size and how long should I be left before seeing a surgeon?
Im not getting any help from my gp other than you will just have to wait for an outpatient appointment.

Any advice on how I can get this pushed faster I'm so worried

  • Hello Kazdjoser

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment. We know that this period of waiting for appointments and referrals can be particularly worrying for many people.

Typically referrals are triaged when received at the hospital so if your referral letter is seen and the clinician looking at it feels that you need to be seen sooner then I'm sure they will process the paperwork accordingly. You could consider giving the hospital a call to see how long their waiting list is and if they hold a cancellation list for people who may be able to attend an appointment at short notice. It's worth asking.

In the meantime, try to keep busy and think positively as this can help with the waiting. I do hope that you don't have to wait too long and that the Consultant is able to give you some reassurance about things.

    Best wishes,
