Anyone in the same position

Hi first time posting . I have been struggling to eat and went to my gp who said I was depressed , a year later and still continued to phone gp , I finally got a appt , I have lost 20 kgs in a year , doctor asked me to go for bloods , all fine , both samples fine , no blood . I had a ct scan on Tuesday and the lady said within 10-14 days then the man. Who was doing scan said no it won't be that long . I'm going out of mind with worry . Is that a good sign or not . Thank you if you have got this far with me waffling on x

  • Hello Paula1973,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear this has been going on for all this time. You did the right thing to go back to your GP. You certainly lost a lot of weight in the space of a year and it's good that this is getting looked into. It's reassuring that your bloods came back normal and I hope that you won't have to wait too long for the CT scan results and that you will get some definite answers very soon. As mentioned in our page about the CT scan,  you should normally get your results within 1 to 2 weeks. Waiting for results is often described here as the hardest thing and I am sure many of our members will be able to relate to how you are feeling at the moment.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are helpful tips too on this page on how to cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
