5 week wait for appointment

Hi, 

I found a swelling under my left arm and went the next day to the doctors who put me on 2 week pathway to see a consultant at our local breast clinic. That was two weeks ago and have been informed today due to backlog that my actual appointment won't be till the 9th of March, which will be 7 weeks not the recommended 2 . Has anyone else experienced this ?

    I waited 5 weeks for my appointment too. Can you ask to be put on a cancellation list? I ended up being seen in another health board as they were taking the pressure of the one I live in.

    Yes exactly this. I was told initially 2 weeks as I was put down as 'urgent' but due to backlog that has now changed to 4-6 weeks. It has now been a month and I've heard nothing so I'm paying out of pocket for a private triple assessment this Thursday. I got the appointment within a week. I can't afford it but my mental health can't take much more waiting. I'm in Ireland. Hope you get seen soon.
