Waiting on Biopsy Results

Hi, just wondering how long people are currently waiting on biopsy results? i had a biopsy taken 4 weeks ago and the doctor told me it would be about 2 weeks, I have heard nothing so i phoned her secretary who told me due to staff shortages they were taking longer.  I dont understand why they would tell me 2 weeks when its the same doctor that took the biopsy that reviews the results so surely she knew they were taking longer? Am i panicking for no reason or are other people waiting this length of time?

    Hi lovely,

    I know its horrible and scary but I'm sure if it's something they'd have you in straight away.

     

    I had a biopsy last Wednesday, i rang the secretary today and she'd advised that the doctors are discussing my results. The doctor is ringing me tomorrow apparently.

    Try not to worry, you've already proved you are strong by going for your biopsy and scan, you can do this whatever it is. 

    Keep mithering the secretary.

    Thanks for your reply.  My husband keeps telling me to phone the secretary but probably part of me doesnt want to know.  

    I hope you get good results, the absolute worst part is the waiting.  I have been around cancer so much lately with my sister, father in law, husband that no matter what the outcome is i still say the absolute worst part is the unknown, the waiting, the worrying... once you know whats happening  you just get on with it.

    Ah, sending you best wishes for tomorrow too! 

    I had my Biopsy 2 weeks ago today - I just called to see if there was any news and my GP said I needed to call the hospital. A lady on the phone there just said I wouldn't be seen till APRIL! Surely not.

     

    It's making me so anxious. I'm being positive but I just want it out of the way. So frustrating - my sister said I should complain but I'm not sure what to do. That would be 3 months from the biopsy!

    Hi In answer to your question, I had a biobsy taken on 8th December and it took ages, 6 weeks. And even then I had to chase for the results.  Try calling your consultants secretary,that may help you to get some answers about yoir biobsy results.

    Surely that cant be right? 3 months!!! 

    I phoned the hospital yesterday and she said she hadnt received any biopsy results taken on the same day as mine but would phone me once they were back.  i just wish they never told me it would be 2 weeks.  

    I hope you dont need to wait until April.
