2 months to get MRI results??

To give some context, a few months ago I noticed a painless bony lump on my arm and went to the GP who then urgently referred me to an orthopaedic consultant in early December. I got xrays taken on the day and consultant said it looks like a benign tumour but need MRI just to be certain.

MRI was on 5th January and I hadn't heard anything until today when I got a letter through the door saying an appointment has been made for me on the 14th March which is ages away (5 weeks).

Now this would have normally put my mind at ease as there will be well over 2 months since my MRI and my appointment, but I'm being referred to a different consultant, whom ive googled and he's the head of the orthopaedic oncology dept at my hospital which has put a lot of fear into me.

I get hospitals are busy but it seems like such a long time to get an appointment.

I'd like to hear other people's stories about getting results back and follow up appointments etc, and maybe can advise me on what might be going on with my case and what to expect at my appointment.
