Swollen Lymph node

Hi,

I have an appointment booked for the 19th at the breast clinic after going to my doctors about a lump in my breast. My doctor said he's not concerned as I fibrocystic breasts but has referred me just to be safe. At the appointment I told him I had a smal painful lump under my arm but did have a cold but he couldn't feel it. Since then it has stopped hurting but is still there and I can feel another. They are small, soft and moveable. I have also started with mild chest pains yesterday and think I've had a panic attack today. I have crazy health anxiety as my mum died of cervical cancer when I was 6. Could the lymph node and chest pains be linked or do you think it's just crazy health anxiety? I need to stay off google! Thanks!

  • Hello Leobob

I'm sorry to hear that you've' recently found a lump and are now waiting on an appointment at the breast clinic. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

It's entirely possible that the chest pain that you've been experiencing this weekend is connected to your anxiety and the panic attack you experienced. However, if things don't improve or you are concerned about the chest pain then do get in touch with your GP.

It may help you to know that the vast majority of people seen at breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer. Try to give Google a wide berth as there is a lot of inaccurate information and spectacular stories which won't answer your questions but will leave you feeling more worried.

If you think it may help to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope you have some reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,
