Worried about my 3 year old

Really struggling at the moment over worry about my 3 year old daughter.

3 weeks ago I noticed she had a lump behind her right ear. She was fine in herself. Two weeks ago she woke up with a temp of 40, very sleepy and was being sick I was so worried as she looked so unwell I took her to a&e. They did bloods and her WBC came back very elevated at 30,000 (Neutrophills) and slightly low haemoglobin.
Dr said they think her body is fighting infection and prescribed antibiotics.
She has an appointment for repeat bloods next Friday to check her wbc has gone down.
The lump is still there behind her ear and now I’ve noticed she has some lumps on the left side of her neck, couple pea size and one a bit larger.
I am just sooooo worried something is really wrong and I can’t shake this feeling

  • Hi Katielucyx,

It's good to hear that the doctor wasn't overly concerned - if it is an infection, this could explain the lumps, which could be swollen lymph nodes due to the body fighting an infection. However it will only be the doctor who can say for sure, which is why it's good that you have a follow-up appointment. Hopefully the antibiotics will help and then I hope that all goes well at the next appointment.

    Wishing you all the best,
