Referal for gastroscopy

So since early December  I've been getting. Black patches on my stools  ive noticed now it's more of a black tarry goo

On Xmas Eve  I had a telephone call with the doctor  who refered me to a gastroscopy  at a private clinics due to waiting times at my local hospital  2 weeks ago 25th of Jan I had a telephone appointment  with the endoscopist who then decided to discharge me and send me back to my gp for someone reason  then last Friday I saw another gp  who felt my tummy and checked my back passage for blood which was  was negative  also gave me a fit test which I'm waiting  the results for I also received a new appointment for the hospital my actual nhs hospital this time but it's in may

So I'm wondering if my fit test is postive will I still have to wait till May it's worrying me Abit coz even ignoring the possibility of the big c  that's a long time to allow a unknown bleed to happen for

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things.

Hopefully, the FIT test results will give your GP some indication about what may be causing your symptoms. I'm sure that if they have a cause for concern following those results they will get in touch with the hospital to see if they can expedite your appointment.

We know that waiting for tests, results and appointments can be difficult and if you'd like to talk through your concerns with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm. I'm sure they will offer any information and support that they can.

I hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • I just had a phone call from the hospital today having it done on Monday never heard the results of the test so I'm A bit confused  trying to remain calm because of how sudden it is and I don't know why it's suddenly been brought forward.
