Low Grade Dyskaryosis and HPV

I have had a letter saying I have low grade dyskaryosis and HPV.

I have got to make an appointment at the colposcopy clinic, I have tried but they have no appointments until March.

How do they know from a smear if it is low, mid or high grade?  I'm working myself up into a panic as I had an abnormal smear 20 years ago and had laser treatment.  I worried about why it's come back.

I lost my Mum five years ago to cancer and a high cancer rate in her side of the family, so this is obviously on my mind too

    I'm sorry that you're having difficulty making an appointment at the colposcopy clinic. Although there are  no guarantees, you may be able to get an earlier appointment if you let them know you're willing to take any cancellations that pop up.

    It's a little bit dated, but I hope this guide will make the gradings easier to understand however, our team of cancer nurses are very knowledgeable in this field so if you'd like to discuss this with them in more detail you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they'll do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.
