My mum has just received a 2 week urgent refferal letter from the hospital, she has had some bowel and blood tests done at the doctors surgery, does this necessarily mean bad news? I am concerned - she has lost a lot of weight

I wouldn't think so. My understanding is that an urgent referral just means they are investigating whether or not something is cancer and that something like 90% of urgent referrals turn out not to be cancer.
