Vulva biopsy

I've been referred to a dermatologist last week as I have an irregular mole and skin changes on my vulva. I go next week to dermatology. My doc said I will need a biopsy.  What I'm asking is will I get biopsy same day or will it be a separate day etc. Just a bit anxious thank you.

Hi Missrose I had  a vulva biopsy on the 8th December 2021,

I saw a gynecologist  about 2/3 weeks before that  and he wanted me to have a biopsy, but because of covid, and staff shortages the actual  department where it was done wasn't open on the first day I saw my gynecologist, so it was scheduled to the later date of the 8th December 2021. You might be lucky though and get it done on the same day, but it depends on yoir gynecologist and how busy they are on that day.

It was a bit uncomfortable, but didn't hurt as much as i hought it would. It healed quickly ,no stitches  were needed for me as it was a small area. I've  not long got the results back ,I've been diognosed with Vin 3 pre cancerous cells that are deep within the vulva skin .

My gynecologist is just leaving it and monitoring it , as he said it's such a small area. I have next appointment with him on 2nd March 2022.im not that happy about that, and have spoken to my doctor  as she said there is a cream that can be used to treat it, there is also surgery or laser treatments, but my doctor has said laser isn't so good as surgery or the cream as the success rate of tresting it with laser isn't as good, ie meaning it often returns at later date with laser treatments.

So my doctor is writing to my gynecologist to see if he will agree to her starting me on the cream.

That was on the 19th January  and I still haven't heard anything back yet so may have to call my doctors surgery and find out what's happening, I'll give it to the end of this week, and call on Monday if I haven't heard anything .

I hope evertything goes well for you,and you get good results and don't have to wait as long for thrm as I did,,its such a worrying time. Hope this helps in some way .

  • Thanks for reply. It's dermatology I'm seeing first. Hoping I get it done same day as don't want to be waiting about for an appointment.Yeah it is worrying. It wasn't me that noticed it was physio . when I was getting examined for pelvic floor. So been a bit of a shock how quick I received my appointment . Seen physio wed , she told me to see my doc next day ,seen doc Thurs letter through on sat and appointment next week. Which has made me worry. Same to you I hope you hear soon. Nothing worse that worrying. You can't help but stress. Thanks again xx
