Really worried

So last year, I had my 3 yearly regular smear which shown HPV Positive and borderline changes, I went for a colposcopy where no treatment was done and they just wanted the smear repeated in 12 months. Fast forward to now, I had my smear about 3-4 weeks ago, popped in the drs this morning for my depo so I asked if any results were back, where she said yes they were uploaded to their system yesterday. Now it’s showing HPV positive again, with severe high grade changes. I’m so worried at such a huge change in the cells in 12 months!? Has anyone else had this?? I haven’t received any letter yet, she said the hospital are writing to me. I’m just so worried.

  • Thank you so much for your reply Minska. I know that I am letting my mind run riot, I was just worried by how long my smear took and the nurses response. My other smears were straightforward and quick. I will just settle myself until I hear from GP. Smear results take so long! Waiting is tough! Thanks so much again.

  • Just try to keep things in perspective for now. When we’re anxious we can read too much into things, and the nurse will just want to make sure that she’s covered everything, given that you told her about your bleeding issues. Results are taking a while at the moment which is unfortunate, because waiting for them is indeed stressful. Try not to worry too much for now if you can. xx

  • UPDATE -

So I received my letter yesterday from the hospital saying that the first available appointment with the consultant has been made for me next Tuesday at 9am (8th Feb) so I'll update you all on how it goes xx
