What are colonoscopy waiting times like in Birmingham?

Hi

I've been waiting for a colonoscopy since 6 Jan I live in Birmingham how long is the usual wait? Also my calprotectin and bloods were normal diarrhoea has stopped but I get a pinkish streak maybe once or twice a week when I wipe. I did a home test checking for blood in stool which was negative (I'm  59 and you don't get NHS FIT test until you're 60). Has anyone had similar or any ideas? Just want to hear from the hospital of a date for colonoscopy.

Thanks for reading

  • Hey Scared59,

I'm sorry you've been waiting a while for your colonoscopy. This may be because of the pandemic but hopefully some of our members who are in this part of the Midlands will let you know about their experiences and how long they had to wait soon.

I'm not sure from your post if you have had a colonoscopy before, but if not, you can find out more about this procedure on our website.

We're thinking of you Scared59 and have our fingers crossed your appointment through soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi, I am in Birmingham and was referred 23rd November via the 2 week wait and finally have my colonoscopy on Sunday. It's been a long agonising wait. Hope your wait is quicker

  • Thanks

I hope I hear in the next couple of weeks I phoned on Friday to chase up and they asked of I was prepared to ho to any of the hospitals in the trust and I said yes in the hope it speeds. Things up. What are your symptoms if you don't mind me asking?

    Good luck tomorrow

  • Thanks.

I've had IBS for 12 years but for the last few months I've had really bad bloating, abdo pain, back pain, blood in stool, anaemia and unexplained weight loss.
