Swollen lymph nodes

Hello

I'm just looking for anyone to relate too

i am 21 years old and in December I got covid. On day 2 of having covid, my lymph nodes raised and was only about 2 of them.
since then I have a few more, none have grown massively and you can't physically see them but you can feel them. All on my right side and one at the back of the neck.
I also have just the right tonsil swollen with no puss etc.

I have really bad shoulder pain and neck pain on the right. The Lymph nodes are rubbery and moveable, they don't grow. Some are even half a pea size and smaller just feel like little spots.
I would say over 6 have raised on the right side but again some being even half a pea size and smaller.
I had some antibiotics from the doctor and he said if they don't go Down after this I must see him and not to take no for an answer which has me terrified as they have not gone nor has my tonsil gone down :(

im just really worried, I would choose good health over anything and my anxiety is through the rough!
I'm not looking for a diagnosis but just some comfort from someone who is also going through this or has gone through it who can advice please.
I will be ringing my doctor tomorrow so shall update when possible incase someone in the future comes across this but please any help would be appreciated

    Hi Vanila,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your swollen lymph nodes and the worry that they are causing you. I am not a doctor, but I do know that your lymph nodes can swell as a result of even a minor infection. Some settle down quickly, whilst others never settle completely. This doesn't always mean that there is anything amiss, but it is always as well to check.

I expect that this is why your GP has given you the advice to return. Unfortunately, nobody can give you a diagnosis without doing further tests. Chances are that your GP may refer you for a scan and possibly a biopsy, just to be sure. This is always a worrying time and  may well find that your emotions are all over the place. Our imaginations also tend to go into overdrive at this stage and, we often tend to think the worst. It usually takes about 2 weeks from the date of referral before you get an appointment.

I do hope that you don't have to wait for long. In the meantime, try to keep yourself busy to help the time to pass. Don't start looking things up on Google until you know what you are dealing with, as this only makes your situation scarier and serves no useful purpose.

Do ring your GP tomorrow and I look forward to your update. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Vanila,

I had some swollen lymph nodes in my neck checked out by the doctor yesterday.  They have been up for a few months and quite visible to everyone. I didn't think much of it until a couple of weeks ago when a red rash came up over them. Anyway, the doctor has ordered some blood tests and an ultrasound so hopefully everything will be OK. Hope your doing okay. Best thing to do is definitely see the doctor,  if anything to calm the anxiety.

    Xx
