Bladder cancer advice

Hi, my mum has been to the doctor 3 times as she had blood in her urine. The GP refused to send the samples off as the urine wasn't cloudy. She has also been to the GP 4 times in the last 2 years with pain under her left rib. In October she started getting severe pain when weeing which has developed into slight incontinence. The GP has been treating her for a UTI to no effect. She finally had an ultrasound this week which showed a 6cm mass in her bladder, her left kidney is totally blocked, and has been for some time, and her right kidney is almost blocked. Is this likely to be stage 4 cancer, a benign mass, has her GP been lax ? Any advice/thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated

  • A warm welcome to the forum Fizzdog although I'm very sorry about the difficulties your mum has had with her GP.

This must have been very frustrating, especially with what's now been found on the ultrasound, but fingers crossed this can be treated and your mum can start getting back to better health soon.

Although no-one here can say what this could be, our community will completely understand how tough this must be and I'm sure some of our members will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

Fingers crossed everything will be o.k Fizzdog.
