ca125 high

I've had a bloated stomach for nearly two months, getting bigger in the evenings but not fully going down at all, tiredness, periods have changed in the last couple of months and my ca 125 has come back at 232, I've had some pain in my back and left side of my stomach in the front. Could this be caused by other things or is it likely to be something along the lines of ovarian cancer? I am booked in for a scan but i want to be prepared, i don't want to be blindsided.

A year and a bit ago i had a ca125 of 36 which was just over the limit.

Thank you for reading, any help is appreciated

kind regards

  • Hello kizziet

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health problems recently and that your ca125 result has come back raised.

Whilst ca125 is produced by some ovarian cancer cells it's really important to remember that a raised ca125 level does not mean you definitely have cancer, as it can also be caused by other conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and even pregnancy. It's good to hear that your GP has arranged for you to have some further investigations and hopefully you won' have to wait too long for that appointment and the results.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
