Do they only do MRI if they think it's (breast) cancer?

Had a mammogram, scan and biopsy this week and they've already given me appointment for an MRI so naturally I'm very worried that they've already decided it's breast cancer and want to find out what, how much etc. Speaking to surgeon on Monday about it and MRI layer next week but I'm beside myself with fear and having to carry on at work but not able to talk about it to anyone except my husband. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thank you.

  • Hi claire, when they done the biopsy, did they give results for it or gone straight from biopsy to mri booking? If you did get biopsy results did they tell you to bring support with you? Im due my results today and they told me to bring support which has me concerned...

  • Hi I found a lump with bruising round about it after I came back from.holiday in sun seen gp immediately got urgent referral  another 2 weeks so 3 n half weeks later I'm stressed out I'm also on dialysis 3x weekly can't afford to go private the bruising has went down a bit but lump still thyr

  • Hi Sarah,

How did it go? Are you ok?

They actually didn't say to bring anyone with me but I'm glad I did as it was confirmed cancerous lump and I absolutely went to pieces.

Had my MRI today but won't know for a few days how big the lump really is. Then they'll discuss treatment plan.

I'm finding lots of support on this forum (although I can't always find my way back to my posts etc!) so please let us know how things are if you feel able.

    Claire

  • Hi,

That sounds rough, being on dialysis too. It's been hellish waiting and wondering but I'm actually starting to feel a bit more able to cope. Are you ok?
