Tests

Hi I'm a little worried I have quite heavy rectal bleeding bloating tummy pain I've had a CT scan an abdominal ultrasound and a internal ultrasound and now I have to have a endoscopy on an extremely urgent appointment and now I'm a bit panicky I just want to know but no one is telling me anything apart from it could be a tumour

  • I had rectal bleeding over the summer, though it was pretty light - just on paper. So different situation, but from what I looked up at the time, loads of things can cause rectal bleeding - ulcerative colitis, Crohn's, polyps, cancer, hemorrhoids, diverculitis (which I can't spell), infections...

Age is a big factor in what is likely. As far as I know, ulcerative colitis and Crohn's are more often diagnosed in younger people (under 50s), whereas polyps, cancer and diverculitis are more likely to be diagnosed in older people. Hemorrhoids seem pretty common at all ages.

Did they say something to suggest the possibility of a tumour.

For what it's worth, when I had a colonoscopy, the finding was hemorrhoids.
