Large round lymph node in neck and low white blood cell coun

Hi everyone,

I've read a few posts on here and just thought I'd finally post my own.

About 6 months ago I had a enlarged lymph node in my groin that was painful and red. After 6 weeks I rang the GP who put me in antibiotics and it went down. At the same time, my partner noticed a lump in the back of my neck that is round and hard but no pain hence why i hadn't noticed it. This lump hasn't gone down with antibiotics. The lump is round and about 1 to 2 cm diameter.

GP sent me for bloods when I finally got to see them in person for my neck at the same day my consultant for skin sent me for bloods for other reasons. My GP told me all was fine but 2.5 weeks ago I saw my consultant for skin who said I had low WBC. I mentioned my lump in my neck and she examined me and immediately requested an ultra sound which I should hear about soon.

My partner keeps telling me everything will be fine but I've had health issue after health issue and had CIN3 x2, Basal cell carcinoma and I'm only 36 and just feel stressed. I've also just been diagnosed with uterine fibroids due to heavy painful periods with am ultrasound.

Amy help or advice would be appreciated.

  • Hello Mo85,

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your ultrasound. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. Although it is a good idea to mention them to your doctor, these health issues you mentioned may be completely unrelated. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
