Seeking advice - awaiting mole biopsy results

Hi all,

Im Amy and im 26 years of age. Back in Novemeber I noticed changes to a mole on breast. When I saw my doctor she reffered me to have pictures taken which came back as ''atypical features found''. Since then I have had the mole excisioned and its been 5 weeks since the mole was removed. The dermotologist did advise it can take up to 6 weeks to receive results however I really don't know how much longer I can control my anxiety. My whole world have stopped since November and is now affecting sleep patterns and work performance. The question I have is - is no news good news? And what do a dermotologist mean when they say a mole has atypical features.

Thank you xx

  • Hi Amy,

I dont have any answers for your I am afraid but just wanted to say hi as I am waiting on results too - I was given the same time frame 6-8 weeks (I guess it can be different all over the country). I have only been waiting 4 so far but am too constantly anxious with the waiting. x

  • Hey summcld,

Thank you ever so much for writing on my post. Im sorry that you are also in a similar situation to me as I know its not pleasant waiting for results. What are you doing in the meantime to keep yourself occupied? I feel totally numb to everything around me at the moment and constantly feeling upset about it all.

    Thanks

  • Trying everything possible to keep my mind off things but I can't stop myself from checking back here constantly looking for someone else waiting too. Anxiety is through the roof some days, rushing to see the post even though I know I qont hear anything yet x

  • Hi Smmcld,

Have you received your results yet? I recieved mine yesterday over the phone as was provided with a telephone number for the health board to see if my results were back. I am over the moon that mine came back benign. I feel like I've been given a second breath of life as the worry have been unbelievable. Hope your doing ok.

    Thanks
