I had thyroid cancer just over two years ago. Literally had my operation two years and about two weeks ago. I can't say whether those symptoms are normal as I had no symptoms at all beyond a lump on my neck, but I just wanted to comment to give you some reassurance.

The most common forms of thyroid cancer tend to be very treatable and they don't usually use chemotherapy or radiotherapy, so it really is just an operation. I doubt my experience was any worse than say having an appendix removed. And your situation should be milder than mine as I had lymph nodes involved too.

The most common form of thyroid cancer has a near 100% survival rate among "younger" people, where "younger" means under about 50. If it is just the thyroid, the odds are they will just remove the thyroid and you'll be out of hospital and back about your life as normal within days. You will have to take medication to replace your thyroid but that is all.
