Swollen lymph nodes

Hi all,

Around 6 years ago, I unexpectedly found a pertruding lymph node on the left side of my neck. I went to the gp who referred me to a haematologist, who did an ultrasound that came back clear.

Fast forward 6 years, the lump had never went down and I've been experiencing constant fatigue and headaches. More worryingly, I have started getting extreme body pains all over my body, random bruising (nearly 15 on one leg) and loss of appetite.

I have returned back to the GP who sent me for an ultrasound which showed reactive lymph nodes on both sides of my neck. They have said that a white line is present within the lymph node which is a good sign, and have referred me to an ENT. I have also had blood tests which have come back clear other than Vitamin D and Folate defiencies.

I'm extremely worried and dont have a clue as to what it can be, but I struggle every day with the tiredness and body aches. Has anyone been through anything similar or who can put my mind at ease that its nothing too serious?

Thanks to any replies!

  • Hello KANNE24 and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can imagine you are feeling rather anxious as you are waiting for your ENT referral. It's reassuring though that they have mentioned that the white line is a good sign and that your blood tests have come back clear.

It's normal to be worried and to feel anxious about what it might be and I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have been through something similar. All you can do for now really is wait for your ENT appointment and waiting is often described here as the hardest thing to do. It is often a time when anxiety can be sky high and when it is tempting to try and search for answers online. The best thing to do really is to keep busy and distracted and to keep away from Google as looking things up will only make you feel more anxious.

I am keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
