Awaiting my cystoscopy at 22

Hi all, 

 

so currently awaiting my cystoscopy on 2 week wait, during my initial appt due to narrow urethra wasn't able to do the cystoscopy so now awaiting it to be done under general anasteric. I'm only 22 so this is a very scary time. I have had blood in my urine for about a year now but was only looked into recently. 
 

please any support and advise would be appreciated

    Hello H_1998 and welcome to our forum, 

    Sorry to hear you are currently waiting to have a cystoscopy and that you need to have it done under general anaesthetic. You are certainly very young to have to go through this and I hope that it all goes smoothly for you. Our information on the cystoscopy  will hopefully shed some light on what to expect from your appointment and it contains information specifically about having a cystoscopy under general anaesthetic. You will find on that page a little video telling you more about what happens when you have a cystoscopy. 

    I can imagine it is a very scary time for you but it's good that they are now looking into this closely and I hope that you get some answers very soon on what has been causing the blood in your urine. 

    Hopefully you will hear from others on the forum who have had this procedure before and they will be along shortly to share their experience with you. I hope that everything goes well for you and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Thankyou for your reply. There was some delay since my last cystoscopy as they decided to trial medications first to treat my symptoms. None of the medications worked and symtoms are worsening. 
     

    My recent cystoscopy showed what they called 'red spots' and now waiting for a biopsy. Very worried as this will be another cystoscopy under GA and worried what they could be :/ 

     

    any advice, especially if those Young would be of great help
