Indeterminate breast calcifications

Hi, has anyone else had this issue?  I went into breast clinic with another lump (I've had numerous fluid filled cysts over the last four years).  That was all fine but they flagged up calcifications on the other side.  I was really shocked.  I've got a biopsy next week and I'm in that horrible inbetween place of not knowing and worrying.  Is this likely to be DCIS?  Thanks x

  • Thank you Mary. I truly appreciate your best wishes. Feel apprehensive but like you say it's a relief that it will be done and then just the next dreaded wait for results to see if they got clear margins. It feels endless!!!

Sorry to hear you have to wait a few more weeks. Waiting really is the name of the game it seems!

I haven't heard of interval cancer so no words of wisdom I'm afraid. I hope you get some clarity of what this means for your own piece of mind.

Hang in there and sending you hugs for the next step in this cr*ppy journey. We've got this xx

  • You're almost there.  Just get through the surgery and heal.  I totally get how you're worried about the post op pathology, I am too but I think someone on here said it's unlikely to vary too much from original biopsy results so try to put it out of your head and focus on Thursday.  One step at a time, you're almost there.

Btw is anyone else taking high strength vit D?  I asked if there was anything I could take prior to surgery to help.  Apart from the usual arnica she said one of the best and important thing to take is Vit D.  Apparently there is research suggesting it can really help with preventing recurrence and I think this has got something to do with boosting immunity.

I've been taking high dose all through lockdown for Covid protection so she said def keep taking and if anyone hasn't taken it to start ASAP.

    Big hug for Thursday.  xx

  • Thank you :-)

That's interesting about the high strength vitamin d. I haven't heard anything about this but will defo look out. I take a multi vitamin which has vit D but anything that might help is worth a go!

Will let you know how Thursday goes!

    Take care xx

  • Hi! All the best for Thursday. Been where you are. I'm 3 weeks post lumpectomy and 2 weeks post haematoma surgery. Thursday is a big day for me too as I get my results from the lumpectomy. Biggest worry is not having clear margins or the diagnosis changing.
Wishing everyone well for the coming week and for whatever stage you're at or facing this week that we find some peace

  • Thank you!

And wishing you all the best for your results on Thursday.

I totally understand your worry about margins. I really hope yours are clear.

Take care and let us know how you get on. Big hugs x

  • Hi

Wishing you all the best for your surgery - I'm sure you will mentally feel so much better once it's done and then you will be on the road to recovery.

You sound like you've been though it. Hoping you get clear margins on Thursday and your diagnosis remains the same. Let us know how you get on.

  • Hi

My next surgery is just after yours on 30th. Hoping for the very best outcome for you and everyone else on this journey. I'm trying to keep as busy as possible - just wish I could turn my brain off!

Like you, I wish it was happening this week but at least it's this month.
