Breast rash worry

Hello for a few weeks I have been suffering with breast pain in both breasts, more so my left one. It started with tender armpits both sides and then went down the sides of my breasts and then moved to the top of the breast. I put it down to my bra, the bones digging in. So last week I went and bought some sports bras, no underwire. To say this has helped is a big relief, the tenderness is still there but has decreased ALOT! I started wearing the sports bras from Wednesday. Very comfy very happy. On Saturday afternoon I happened to notice a rash over both breasts but more on the left. Went all the way round my body where the bra was sitting but not as prominent there. Hubby said it looked like heat rash maybe from the sports bra, but why start 3 days after wearing? Although it seems like majority of the rash has disappeared on the right side I feel like it's still there on the left. I'm not sure if in my head I think I can see other changes in that breast. Iv always been a worrier about breast cancer and now im worried I have IBC! Hubby says he can't really see the rash but when I look down I can. Im 31 have 3 beautiful children. I suffer with health anxiety and whilst over the last year it's been under control I now feel like im spiralling again. Someone share their experiences please either way xx

  • Hello Mumma123

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some anxiety about your breast health again. I'm sure that you know that your GP is the best person to discuss your concerns with in the first instance as they will be able to arrange any appropriate appointments or referrals.

In the meantime, you might find it helpful to have a quick look at the information on the NHS website about managing health anxiety.

I do hope that you're able to get some reassurance from the GP soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn,

Thankyou for replying to me. It seems the rash has disappeared. I'm thinking now that it's probably likely either heat rash or irritation from my new bra. I will continue to control my anxiety and try not to let it get the better of me. I will also keep checking in on the breasts each month. Sorry to have posted on here, if I have upset anyone etc.

  • It could well have been the bra,  sports bras have lots of elastic it could have been irritating, l would give the bra a good wash and try again. As it stretches out it will probably become really comfortable. Take care
