How likely to be Cancer?

Hi,

My Partner found a small hard lump in the top/side of his testical the other day. It is smaller than a pea and can be hard to locate. There's no swelling or pain or anything else but it's definetley there.

is this most likely cancer? He went to the GP today and he did examination he said he took a while to find it but found it eventually. He didn't know what it was and has said he will send him for a ultrasound scan but it could take up to 3 weeks

he didn't say what it was but listed things it could be and obviously this included testicular cancer.

inknow there's no way of knowing this right now think I'm just looking for some kind of hope or advice. I know it's bothering him and I want to be there for him best I can during this wait.

im so worried and can't help think the worst. He's 37 years old so in the right age bracket for testicular I think. But have heard of cysts etc too that it could be.

it's our daughters 1st birthday tomorrow and I feel like we're both going to be worrying about this rather than making the memories with her.

thanknyou in advance for any help or advice

  • Hello Tinkerbell and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry for the worry this is understandably causing but I do hope you were able to put it to the back of your minds yesterday and enjoy your daughter's first birthday.

Unfortunately no-one here will be able to tell you what this is or whether it could be cancer or not but it's good your partner has seen his GP and is now in the system for further investigation.

Waiting for tests and results is always tough but our members are here for you and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences and offer you their support and advice. I hope the tips and advice given in this article will help keep your nerves at bay as well.

Fingers crossed the appointment for the ultrasound comes through sooner rather than later and that the results bring good news when the time comes.

    Best wishes to you both,

  • I'm 47 and have found two lumps in the past. One in my teens and another in my 20's. Both times i was sent for a US.  Both times it turned out to be a cyst. Cysts are common as is swellings of the tubes.

He's getting checked and as things currently stand, he's doing the right thing. Other than that, only those that will do the scan and interpret them can give you the answers you seek. I know it's tough and worrying, but most of these lumps turn out to be a whole lotta nothing.
