Imagining symptoms? / post surgery pain

Really struggling waiting for results after an incidental finding in surgery - have gone from feeling completely well in myself to actively having symptoms since being told. Completely thrown and unsure if this is health anxiety or if I'm only now noticing pain because I'm hyper aware? - no faith in myself whatsoever and unsure if this is common when scared.

Had laparoscopy cyst removal and biopsy on other ovary and experiencing nerve pain across both sides 2 months on. Is this normal? Brain is completely running away and even when I calm down somewhat, I still feel awareness of those areas but unsure if stress ascerbates pain anyway and not to worry. Going mad.

Had an ultrasound in summer and nothing unusual was picked up then from my liver / stomach / etc but now stressing about how reliable that scan is. I tried my GP for anti anxiety and he said we needed to get this info back first / it's been a long 22 days since the biopsy came back as abnormal awaiting guidance and I haven't been eating or coping well.

So so much love to everyone waiting on results and dealing with uncertainty. Wishing everyone the best x

  • Hello anxcl,

22 days is a long time to have been waiting and I hope that it won't be too long now until you get your results. It's a shame that this is having an impact on your appetite and that you feel you are not coping well as a result.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There is helpful information too on this page on how to cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • I had my overies removed and biopsies they also removed extensive adhesions, l had a follow up with the surgeon and knew when she was going to ring me with the results. It was 5 weeks post op, l also felt anxious about the outcome, fortunately it was benign. I hope you have the same outcome have you rung the secretary for an idea of when your results will be available, the gynaecology secretary was really helpful when I spoke to her pre surgery and she sorted out my medication by getting a dr to ring me. They can send your surgeon a message for you.
take care and try to relax
