Advice needed

Hey all, just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences.

I had a colonoscopy on 7th December. 1 15mm polyp removed, and biopsies taken. I recieved a call on Wednesday 5th Jan confirming the polyp was cancerous, and further investigations required to make sure it was contained within the polyp. I was was told i would have a CT scan, which i had Friday 7th Jan, and an MRI which i havent had any communication about yet.

While i was getting my CT scan, i was asked did i have an appointment with a specialist, or another appointment with my GP, both of which was a no. So i called my GP for a chat, and they had no record yet that the polyp was even cancerous.

So im trying to stay calm and not panic, and i appreciate our wonderful NHS has seperate systems which dont always communicate with each other quickly, but just wanted to kinda vent that out and see if anyone has anything to add? I cant even remember the mans name who called me, because i was so sure nothing would ever come of this!

  • Welcome to the forum Stacy although I'm sorry a cancerous polyp was found during your colonoscopy.

I know this must be a tad scary at the moment but I'm glad you've joined us as you'll find many of our members have been in this situation so you're not alone and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer you their support and advice.

I hope it won't be long until you hear about your MRI and your colonoscopy results are passed on to your GP soon but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses whilst you wait then do give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to help and put your mind at ease.

    Kind regards,
