Continuous Womb & Pelvic/Lower Back Pain

Hi,

I have been experiencing a continious ache and stabbing in my pelvic and lower back for months.  I also have what I can only describe as a heavy womb, its also continiously aching.  I had a 10 day period last month, and now have noticable discharge that has an odour.

Being someone who always had a flat tummy, I have noticed its more swollen and tender towards my pubic bone.

I am waiting to see the doctors, but wanted to ask if anyone has had these symptoms.

I have a history of cervical cancer on my mothers side.

I have just turned 50 and having lots of peri-menopause symptoms too.

Any help would be most grateful.

  • Hi,

I would suggest that you see a doctor asap. If it takes too long to have a referral from gp to specialist in the NHS, try to see a private doctor. If the private specialist thinks it is urgent, you can be fast tracked back to the NHS.

If you read my other posts on other chats, you would know more about my experience.

    Best wishes,

    Chui

  • Good evening Chui,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I will absolutely take on board your suggestions.

I shall reivew your posts now.

    Best wishes,

    Samantha

  • Hi Samantha

Hopefully you can get an appointment with your doctor very soon-it’s a long time for you to have symptoms like this which are worrying you.

There is no genetic link that I have ever been aware of in terms of cervical cancer in families, although I understand there can be a connection in our ability to deal with the HPV virus, which is the cause of the vast majority of cervical cancers.

Your symptoms could be many things, not all as serious as any cancer, but you may find people coming onto the thread to say they had similar symptoms and did have cancer, which is the danger of trying to compare yourself to others. The best thing to do is wait to be examined and referred to a specialist if necessary. Are you up to date with smear tests? x

  • Hi Minska,

Thank you for replying, I have managed to get a doctors appointment for this week.  They wanted it to be a phone call, but I suggested it needs to be in person.

I am embarrassed to admit I wasnt aware of the HPV virus until now, which I had to google.  I agree that its best to see what my symptoms are before comparing, as we are all different arent we.

My last smear was last February and that was OK.

    Thank you again x

  • The only reason I mentioned smear tests and HPV was because you had mentioned cervical cancer. To be honest, in my experience your symptoms don’t sound like cervical cancer, but you can tie yourself up in knots trying to come to a self diagnosis on the basis of any kinds of symptoms.

I’m glad you’re going to have a face to face appointment with the doctor, and hope this is something which isn’t too serious for you. x
