Breast lump disappeared

Hi there I'm 34 and found a large mobile lump above my right breast. I saw the gp on Monday and she referred me to the breast clinic although she didn't seem worried but wanted to have it checked as it's a new lump. My appointment is in 10 days but the lump seems to of disappeared.  Should I keep the appointment? I don't want to waste anyone's time.

  • Hi Emma08,

Your GP seems quite relaxed but must have some concern to refer you to Breast Clinic so I think you should definitely keep your appointment even though you can't feel the lump.

It may have disappeared some things like cysts can do that. I have no medical background but I've heard of something called a " breast mouse "  It's not cancer and I think it's common in your age group.

It's technical name is "fibroadenoma" usually appears as a firm, well-defined lump in the breast. They can often move around, which is why the term breast ‘mouse’ is often used to refer to them.

You may want to research it so you can ask the doctor when you attend your appointment.

I hope your appointment comes through quickly

Please let us know how you get on.

    Big hug from

    Lilyanne xx

  • You're welcome.

Hope everything goes ok for you xx

  • Hi Emma

I'm in a similar situation. I don't think my lump was big but I could definitely feel it easily and now I have to really search and even then I'm sure it's not the same. I'm keeping my appointment but just hoping that it's a positive sign.

hope you haven't got a long wait. I don't have a date yet and it's driving me nuts.
