Hi I just needed a rant.
I saw my GP late November who said that I needed an urgent referral to breast clinic for suspected pagets. When he went to complete the referral it stated that I needed to have 2 weeks topical steroid before referring. I had already been applying hydrocortisone for weeks with no change. After 2 weeks he sent the referral. I got an appointment for clinic over 4 weeks later.
The day before the hospital called to say thet they needed to cancel it. I advised that I had already waited almost 7 weeks in total since first seeing my GP and they offered me an appointment the following day at another clinic.
When I attended on new years eve they were unable to biopsy my nipple as it wasn't bleeding but they did find that a lump which I had biopsied a few years ago had changed and more than doubled in size. They scored it a 3-4 and said that they had delays with MDT meetings and were 3 weeks behind.
I was booked for 27th January for a telephone appointment for results and told that they would arrange to see me in clinic if the biopsies showed cancer. I have been anxious and 4 weeks seems long to wait but I do understand that with covid and christmas that many clinics have delays.
Today I have received a message from the breast clinic sayinng they are sorry that I have had to cancel my appointment and they have rebooked it for 25th April. I called to say that I haven't asked for it to be cancelled and was told by the gentleman that at least it can't be serious or they would see me sooner.
I am absolutelt furious. I doubt that they even have my results yet and if they do 4 months to be told your results is unacceptable. Of course it's Friday afternoon so I can't speak to anyone to get it sorted out and now I have to try and sort this mess out in works time. I was already anxious and upset and I just feel like we don't matter as patients. Covid can't be the only thing that matters.
