Awaiting Colonoscopy

Hi,

So I've been suffering with upper to lower right sided abdo pain, diarrhoea, nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue. I had routine bloods that then showed I'm anaemic. Doc ordered more tests specifically stool my fecal calprotein test came back as normal but my FIT test was abnormal. I'm now awaiting a urgent referral and a colonoscopy.

has anyone else had anything similar? Really worrying now it could be something more sinister as fecal calprotein test normal so no signs of inflammation in my bowel.

  • If it helps I had my colonoscopy this morning and the only thing they found was one Diverticua in my sigmoid and possible IBS. Here's a list of the symptoms I had:

2 years, possibly more of loose stools and sometimes diarrhoea. Can't remember having a normal bowel movement.

    Always bloated uncomfortable belly.

Randomly become constipated just over 3 weeks ago. Was feeling pain all over but mostly where the sigmoid is (lower left). This got worse around 4 hours after eating. Took Lactose and after 3 days started to have bowel movements, but they was very difficult to get out and all come out looking like thin ribbon. Pain did not improve.

Loss of appetite and feeling weak. This was probably the anxiety and lack of sleep.

And the feeling after the small bowel movements I was having that there was more to come out but it never would.

My FIT test went missing so don't know the result. Probably a good thing because I have haemorrhoids.

I was 100% convinced I had a partial bowel obstruction. 2 years of ignoring symptoms and the ribbon stools was the thing that was really making me worried.

Please don't go anywhere near Dr Google and know there is lots of things it could be.

Wishing you the best. And please keep us updated

  • Oh and another thing, when the colonoscopy department phone you to take some details they will probably say you'll be seen within two weeks. Ask politely if you can be seen as soon as possible, because that's what I did and I was in there the next morning. Not saying you'll get one that quick but maybe you'll at least get a date
