Hysteroscopy Biopsy

If the consultant takes you to one side and says he is very suspicious of his findings sent the biopsy as urgent  and spoke to you about a hysterectomy and a mri how sure is that I have cancer of the womb

  • I know its hard to hear especially as you have been told that it might be bad, but try and wait for the biopsy results.  I had a macmillan nurse who did my colposcopy, and after hearing how my previous GP did nothing for 2.5 years of symptoms, she came to my hysteroscopy to talk to me.  She said she would make sure they processed them quickly and she would chase the results, but the hysteroscopy dept said 3-4 weeks.  She said she was concerned because of the length of time I had been without being checked out with abnormal bleeding, and a thickened endometrial lining, as it can put you at a higher risk of cancer (hopefully not though).  I called this nurse last wednesday, but the results still weren't back.  I think christmas and new year haven't helped how long the whole process is taking.  Just be reassured they are doing all the checks they need to do for now, and it might still be nothing.  Take comfort in the fact they are being thorough, and I hope it all turns out alright for you.  I am thinking of you.  Hope we both get good news soon.  It's been around 2.5 weeks since my biopsy.

  • Thanks for taking the time to reply I've just had a weird couple of days, I don't think I actually digested anything that I was told and now I'm either feeling stupid because I'm stressed over something that hasn't actually happened yet, tearful brcause I'm terrified of what may happen or completely blanking any thought of bad news at all I hope all is well with you. I too have been back and forth the doctors for a few years I've been told it's my weight, poly myalgia, vitamin D deficiency, the menopause, the fact I work too much and a number of other things I've only actually been seen  at all because the doctor wants to give me hrt for my pain and was a little concerned that I have spotted every single day for four years I had the biopsy last Thursday so hopefully won't be too long, you take care x

  •  Hello CEAJ - Am so sorry that you've been put into a horrible state of uncertainty.  I don't know if my experience might help but I hope it will.  After years of persistent intermenstrual bleeding that was dismissed by my GP I was diagnosed with Stage 3C womb cancer.  That was 19 years ago.  I'm fit and well.  Of all the cancers around this is one of the 'best'.  In my case a hysterectomy removed the problem.  I had radiotherapy but not everyone needs this.  I hope of course that you won't have cancer but I just want you to know that womb cancer nowadays has very good outcomes.  I have everything crossed for you.  I hope you can keep distracted until you get the biopsy result.  I know how horrible waiting and uncertainty is.  All very best wishes for return to good health soon.  K

  • Thank you and yes it has I'm so pleased that you have taken the time to message it has enabled me to at least feel more positive and perhaps get a little more sleep before my early start.  I am pleased to hear that you are so well it's fantastic to hear positive experiences thank you so much best wishes for your continued good health xxx
