Waiting for Breast Clinic Appointment - very anxious

Hi, I'm so glad to have found  this forum as I have had a bruised feeling in one part of my breast for a few weeks. I didn't worry too much at first as it just felt as if I'd poked myself in my sleep, but it didn't get better and a couple of days before Christmas I read that in older women (I'm 64) pain in a focal area can be a sign of breast cancer. I saw my GP on Friday and she could feel some thickening in that breast so has referred me to the Breast Clinic to be seen in the next couple of weeks. She said she couldn't feel any raised lymph glands so I hope that is good at least. Breast and Ovarian cancer run in my family and to be honest I'm terrified. I've had fibroadenomas in the past when I was younger but this feels so different and I just feel sick with worry

    I have an appointment on Thursday with the breast clinic because I had pain in my armpit, before Christmas. Nurse practitioner checked it and said she couldn't feel anything, a few days later the doctor gave me Naproxen.  The pain has got worse and I have had itchiness and burning sensation.  No other symptoms.

    I'm trying to stay calm and keeping off Google as it always lead to bad answers.  Hopefully you will get an appointment soon I'm 53.    I'm really worried, scared, keep thinking about it.  Trying to keep mind busy but it keeps wandering off.  It's what will they find!

    I hope all goes really well with your appointment Kernow. I'm trying to keep busy too, but nights are hard. I will be thinking of you on Thursday

    Thank you, yes night's are the hardest.  One minute I think there are no lumps so abit optimistic,  next it could be inflammatory breast cancer.

    I had breast pain before but that hormonal and felt different.  I have alot of pain in the armpit.  Pain in breast is easing.  What's your pain like?

    Thanks Kernow. It's a very tender, bruised feeling just to the side of the nipple. I didn't know there was thickening in the breast until my GP felt it. I'm so glad the pain in your breast is easing.

    My armpit feels very tender, burning sensation.  Pain has been around my breast, around nipple  but at night I can't get comfortable.  That's why I'm worried what they will find.  Looking on Google wasn't helping just kept going back to IBC.

    I have found Google the absolutely worst place to go, all I have done is make my anxiety so much worse. I'm so glad I have found this forum though, it feels a very 'safe' place to be.
