Really worried I have pancreatic cancer

Hi, I am a 55 year old male with a history of abdominal and prostrate issues in the past 4 years during which I have had my gallbladder removed and have had a TURP on my prostate. In the past 3 months I have lost 10% of my body weight, sweat heavily and I feel umwell nearly the whole time, I have constant diahorea and keep feeling like I need to squeeze another poo out but nothing comes. All my bloods have come back ok but my GP has reffered me to a fast track clinical pathway at the hospital aimed at trying to get more early diagnoses. I have been saying that doctors, consultants etc for the past 2-3 years that I know that I am not right but just keep getting told that oh well your bloods and scans are ok but irrespective of that I KNOW that there is something not right with me. I just feel worried that this next round of scans / tests etc will throw something up

  • Hi Dazzler66,

I'm sorry that you feel so unwell with a history of abdominal, prostate and gallbladder concerns and that you feel like you've not got far with your GP/Drs. It sounds like it has been going on a long time for you and you just want answers.

Are you in pain at all? I'm wondering what scans you've had...have you had a CT scan as yet?

Whilst it is horrible that you are suffering like this, it is good that some action has been taken with the fast track referral. Have they indicated how long this will be - is it the 2 week pathway?

I'm also concerned about my pancreas.

  • Hi Sunshine H, I have been referred to the NSS clinical pathway and should be seen within 2 weeks. I believe it starts with a full CT scan and most probably very specific blood tests etc. of all my symptoms my doctor was most concerned with the severe weight loss. All of my recent bloods were within range however normal blood screening doesn't detect a lot of cancers.

  • I understand what your going through.

Me and sunshine both are going through something similar.

    Best wishes
